Most affordable gold jewelry uses brass or copper as a base metal with a thin layer of electroplated gold on top. That plating wears off within months, especially with water exposure. PourToi uses 316L surgical stainless steel — the same metal used in medical implants — as our base, then applies 18K gold using PVD technology. What is PVD coating?
PVD stands for Physical Vapor Deposition. It is a vacuum-based coating process where metal is vaporized and deposited onto a surface at a molecular level. PVD coatings are typically 3–5 microns thick compared to 0.5 microns for standard gold plating — and bond far more strongly to the base metal.
Is PourToi jewelry hypoallergenic?
Yes. PourToi jewelry is made from 316L surgical stainless steel, which is nickel-free and hypoallergenic. It is safe for people with sensitive skin or metal allergies.
Will PourToi jewelry turn my skin green?
No. The green skin reaction is caused by brass or copper oxidizing against skin moisture. PourToi uses stainless steel — not brass or copper — so there is no risk of green skin discoloration.
Is the gold real?
